₹757 million How To Download And Watch Shaandaar The Times of India describes Shaandar as “India’s first terminus wedding film.” Principal taking pictures began in August 2014 in Leeds, and the film was released on October 22, 2015. It stars Alia Bhatt and Shahid Kapoor in the lead roles, with Pankaj Kapur and Sanjay Kapoor in the supporting roles. And no matter how much money you spend padding up gimmicks, they don’t work like the real thing.Shaandaar is a 2015 Hindi romantic comedy film directed through Vikas Bahl and produced by Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap. In scenes where he opts for animation, he should’ve just let Pankaj Kapur and Alia Bhatt do the magic. The biggest mistake he makes is to not trust his actors. Vikas Bahl should’ve done better with Shaandaar. Throw in decent cameos by Sushma Seth and Sanah Kapoor and you have fantastic acting in a flawed film. The rapport between Pankaj Kapur and Alia is fabulous, the dynamic between Pankaj and Shahid is better still. Together the two make one hell of a couple and they make the film look a lot better than it is. Alia on the other hand brings a subtle sexiness and mystique to her character. You won’t be able to resist the man’s charisma. Shahid brings his characteristic likeability to a role that’s tailor made for swooning girls. He plays prince charming with abundant charm and she’s just flawless as ever. The chemistry between Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt is spectacular. Amit Trivedi's music is a definite attraction. If you are one of those adamant ShaAlia fans who will watch Shaandaar against the tide of all indications, here’s what could make it worth your while. The creative think tank on this film really dropped the ball. There’s even some random absurdist humour that would’ve worked wonders had this film not been positioned as a child-friendly love saga. They’re both insomniacs and they both pride their off-kilter personalities. Likewise, the romance between Alia’s and Shahid Kapoor’s characters is organic. It transcends the surrogate nature of their relationship.

Their chemistry and their bond are informal and as seamless as friendship. The best part is the father-daughter relationship as seen between Pankaj Kapur’s and Alia Bhatt’s characters. The good bits are woven around these embarrassments. And Sadly these elements are the mainstay of Shaandaar. None of which work in the context of the film. Yet, you resort to banal gimmicks like Sindhi jokes, fat people clichés and homosexuality being niche. You’re trying to fight stereotypes by showing characters that don’t mind being called adopted and orphan. It just does not gel with the ideas of the story.

There are animation sequences, cute CGI frills and a whole barrel full of juvenile humour. Bahl tries to present it like a children’s film. From there the story turns out like a run-of-the-mill romantic comedy. Only the wedding is actually a business deal between two industrialist families. Cut to, Prince Charming arrives as the wedding planner at the wedding of the man’s real daughter (the lovable step sister). He wishes for a prince charming to come by and help his daughter find her dreamland. All this man wishes for is to have his insomniac daughter fall to sleep.

The film starts off like a Disney movie with a Pixar twist, you have an orphaned girl who’s brought into an affluent family by a man with a golden heart. As a result his two-and-a-half-hour film can’t really do justice to any one idea. And you get a film that looks like a million bucks, it even has its moments, but it’s really not worth your time.ĭirector Vikas Bahl tries to envelope a princess’ fairy tale into a quintessential romantic comedy, with the Indian wedding scenario, all with relevant themes of feminism and gender equality. In a bid to be glamorous and commercially relevant, the filmmaker forgets the story. It’s as if the director is trying almost too hard to please everything and everyone. But there are too many things happening all at once. The themes and the ideas at work in this movie are truly nice. Shaandaar is the film you want to like, desperately too. There are good films, there are bad films, there are good films that you want to hate and there are bad films that you want to love.
